“Once I knew that Cass ( the main character) had this sort of background in police work I took two police detectives, female, to breakfast. I said. Well, exactly how do you do your job? What are the things you worry about? How do you accomplish the same thing, maybe your male counter parts do, but maybe you have to do it a little differently?
